1999年的韩国经济萧条，银行职员民基（崔岷植 饰）被裁员而失业在家，每天无所事事的他都会以看小说度日。至于他的妻子宝罗（全度妍 饰）是一名英文幼儿园的校长，面对颓废在家的丈夫，她充满了厌恶之情。正好在这个时候，宝罗遇上了她的旧情人，两人旧情复燃。但宝罗并不想放弃家庭， 但周旋在家庭与情人之间的她十分辛苦。
